The Moo Shu Veggies, String Beans, and Broccoli dishes were good. I ordered (to go): Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Fried Sesame Balls, Scallion Pancakes, Spinach Pancakes, General Tso's 'Chicken', Moo Shu Veggies, String Beans in Szechuan Sauce, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, and Raspberry Cheesecake. I was in town for a family function and based on the reviews here, I decided to give New Harmony a try. Updated from previous review on Friday January 23, 2009 Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed this go 'round. I should've saved myself $60 and just got that. My Scallion Pancakes and Sesame Balls were very good as well. The broccoli that accompanied 2 of the dishes was really good though. Nothing inspiring or memorable about them. My "chicken" dishes (fried "chicken" and broccoli with a pineapple sauce General Tso "chicken" satay) were just ok. ![]() The chocolate cheesecake was pretty good, just not as good as what I was used to from them. But to be fair, I didn't ask either.), so they were not as good. Lotus Cakes Studio no longer makes their cheesecakes (which I wasn't told until after I had paid. Too bad I didn't find out until $70 later. I returned to New Harmony and 6 years later it just wasn't the same. The waitress wasn't very happy and I often caught her side eyeing me, it made the entire atmosphere very uncomfortable and I haven't been back since.ģ- for the large menu and previous good experiences. Was a 700 watt microwave the only cook on duty that day? We did mention something but didn't want to sound rude- we didn't even request to have the food go back and be re-done. That didn't bother me so much as when we got our food, most of it was cold. We ordered and waited about an hour - an hour. The last time we went, about 7 months ago, I brought my best friend to the city and we stopped, both in the mood for Chinese. It's a decent sized restaurant and aside from a large party they catered during one of our visits, it's always been extremely quiet and relaxing. We ordered several appetizers and a main entree each- we were so excited to find another gem in Philadelphia. ![]() ![]() I've come here a few times from out of state the first two times with my husband were very pleasant with extremely delicious food. He advised us to get there early, as they fill up quickly.Īlthough New Harmony has a very extensive vegan menu, I found my last visit to be less than favorable. If you are interested, however, the buffet is Sunday from 5:30-7:30, and $13 per person. In fact, we had planned to go by Sunday for the all-you-can eat buffet, but elected to skip it as we weren't super impressed with the food. We got back to our hotel relatively quickly, and ate the food, but it was a little soggy, and not the best quality - certainly not the best vegan food we tasted in the city. I was not super impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant, and it seemed like they may have been having issues with their air conditioning. It took me a while to decide as the menu is SUPER extensive. We ordered the general tso, fried duck, and the roasted pork fried rice (to go). I can't speak to the validity of that claim, but he was very clear about the fact that they were vegan. To begin with, the listing indicates this place is vegetarian, but I asked them what was vegan on the menu, and the individual I spoke to explained that everything in the restaurant was vegan/plant based. During a recent trip to Philadelphia, we decided to give this place a try.
